Winter Appeal 2009

Please Help this Winter!

Andrew was in a desperate situation when he came to us last November.

He was suffering from depression and panic attacks.  He couldn't work.  He could barely even leave the house.

After being diagnosed with HIV, he thought his life was over.

Once a prosperous restaurant manager, he was only eating four times a week with food from the Salvos or Luncheon Club.

Within a few days of coming to BGF Andrew was safe in Supported Accommodation, and with counselling and support was soon back on his feet again.

He said “I thought there was nothing…but I feel normal again now”.

Friends helping Friends

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation was born 25 years ago when another young man fell ill with AIDS.

There were few support services back in 1984. So Bobby’s friends got together and threw a party to raise the funds to look after him when he could no longer work or care for himself.

There was more money than was needed for Bobby, and so the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation was started.

90 per cent of those we help live below the poverty line

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation has been helping people with HIV for 25 years. Today we care for some 1400 people - old, young, female, male. The youngest is 8, the oldest 77.

Your 25th anniversary gift to the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation will help people with HIV to stay in their homes, pay for vital HIV medications, return to work, do a training course, or just return to a state of wellness.
