BGF Adherence Study

SMS reminders have been increasingly used to promote antiretroviral treatment (ART) for people living with HIV (PLHIV). This SMS reminder service has not yet been routinely provided by any PLHIV-based community organisations in Australia. The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) intends to assess the acceptability and feasibility of sending regular SMS reminders to our eligible clients to improve ART adherence and more broadly, quality of life.

We would like to invite our clients to participate in an Adherence Study. This study will begin with a 6-week, BGF-led SMS campaign to promote ART adherence. Those who participate in the campaign will then have an opportunity to take part in further study evaluations,led by independent researchers from the Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW. Once you agree to participate in the SMS campaign, we will send brief,standard text messages to your nominated mobile phone number. You are expected to receive a minimum of one to a maximum of six messages per week for the following six weeks. Some of you are expected to further respond to the SMS reminders using one of the standard reply options.

To recognise your valuable input, a $25 grocery voucher will be mailed to you once you complete the 6-week SMS campaign. By taking part in all the modules of the study you can get upto $65 grocery vouchers.
