Case work
BGF offers tailored support for people living with HIV who are facing a variety of challenges. Our approach combines practical case work delivered by a team of skilled human service professionals. Our team work closely with sector partners, clinical teams and other community support organisations to provide holistic, wrap-around psychosocial support services.
Complex case management
At BGF, our specialist case management is delivered by qualified social workers who understand the realities of living with HIV and navigating health and social systems. Our case management team are highly specialised and skilled in providing complex case management support and are adept at managing complex support needs with professionalism and care.

Once our team has reviewed your referral form, we’ll be in touch. If eligible for BGF services, we’ll arrange your initial intake appointment.
Work with our experienced team to develop a personalised support plan that addresses your specific needs. Once your plan is in place, our team can start working with you to achieve your goals.
How does BGF support clients?
We have been supporting people living with HIV for more than 40 years. We specialise in support for all people living with HIV, from all walks of life who are seeking progressive, supportive care.
Our team of trained social workers have in-depth knowledge about HIV and hands-on experience navigating complex health and social systems. We provide many services and support including:
- Referrals to other support services to connect you with additional resources
- Navigating complex systems to better assist with Centrelink, the NDIS or My Aged Care
- Legal and housing advocacy to support you with legal issues and housing needs
- Support letters to provide the necessary documentation and letters of support, where needed
- Financial literacy to help you understand and manage your finances
- Intensive and ongoing advocacy support to ensure your specific needs are met
- Goal setting and self-management so you can set and achieve your goals.
Practical support
We understand that each person’s situation is unique. We will work with you to develop a care plan that is specific to your support needs. Our practical support includes:
- Hands-on assistance with daily tasks
- Assistance with understanding medications and treatments in collaboration with clinical support services
- Help with finding and maintaining stable housing
- Assistance with Work Development Orders to reduce fines through community work
- Help with managing energy bills through Energy Account Payment Assistance (EAPA)
- Harm minimisation education to reduce high-risk behaviour
- Reaching out to provide support where it’s needed most.
