Mike Searle
Mike brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across multiple industries including business development, learning and development, disability and community services. He holds an Associate Degree in Applied Social Science (Management), a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science (Human Behaviour) and a Master’s Degree in Human Services with a specialisation in disability and generalist practice.
Mike is passionate about delivering best practice HIV, disability and aged care support – particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community. He is well-versed in NDIS practice standards and aged care quality requirements and is dedicated to supporting all community members to maintain independence and to live life on their own terms.
Motofumi Kotsuka
Moto brings extensive executive leadership experience across international and Australian not-for-profit organisations, government and global financial services, with a proven track record of leading organisational strategy, strengthening operations and building high-performing, purpose-driven teams that deliver sustainable impact.
Moto completed his secondary education in New York, USA, and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Econometrics) from Keio University in Japan, a Master of Arts in Multiculturalism from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
Moto is a Fellow Certified HR Practitioner (FCPHR) and currently serves as an elected New South Wales State Councillor for the AHRI. His appointment reflects his commitment to professional leadership, sound governance and advancing the people management profession.
As Director of People, Culture and Administration, Moto leads the organisation’s People & Culture, Information Technology, Risk, Compliance and Administration functions. Working closely with the CEO and Board, he plays a key role in shaping organisational strategy, strengthening governance and ensuring its effective implementation. His leadership focuses on aligning operational excellence with long-term strategic priorities, enhancing organisational capability and supporting financial sustainability and growth in an increasingly complex operating environment.
Rhys Leppard
Rhys brings 20 years of experience in marketing, communications and fundraising within the not-for-profit and community services sectors. Throughout his career, he has worked with organisations including Save the Children Australia, the City of London, Uniting Communities (SA) and Uniting NSW.ACT, leading initiatives that strengthen communities, drive social impact and connect people with the support they need.
As Director, Public Engagement, Rhys leads BGF’s marketing, communications, fundraising and public engagement functions. He is responsible for growing awareness of BGF’s services, strengthening relationships with supporters and stakeholders and ensuring the organisation continues to engage and support communities across New South Wales and South Australia.
Passionate about using marketing and communications as a force for good, Rhys is committed to amplifying the voices of the communities BGF serves and reducing barriers to accessing support. His work has focused on increasing service awareness, driving community engagement, supporting fundraising growth and strengthening BGF’s reputation as a trusted provider of HIV, disability and community services.
Rhys holds a Double Degree in Media and International Studies from the University of Adelaide. He has extensive experience working alongside LGBTQIA+ communities, people living with HIV, people with disability and older Australians, bringing an inclusive, person-centred approach to all aspects of his work.
