Carla Treloar AM
Carla is a Scientia Professor at UNSW. She was previously the Director of the Centre for Social Research in Health and the Social Policy Centre. She has researched social issues, especially stigma, about HIV and other conditions for more than 20 years.
She has been a member of more than 50 advisory committees for community, government and health service organisations and is National Co-chair of Anti-Poverty Week.
Carla joined the BGF Board in 2023 and is Chair of the Client Services Governance Committee.
Michael Harrison
Michael is the Government and Regulatory Advice Lead in the Group Accountability function at the Westpac Group. He is responsible for frameworks and policies that support compliance with executive accountability obligations. He is an experienced risk and compliance leader, specialising in regulatory engagement and the implementation of complex regulatory change programs.
Additionally, Michael has held senior governance roles in not-for-profits across Australia. His experience to date has focused heavily on social justice, LGBTQIA+ inclusion and reducing stigma for communities experiencing marginalisation.
Michael joined the BGF Board in 2023 and is Chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee.
Dan Holland
With more than 20 years’ experience in corporate affairs, reputation and sustainability, Dan is currently Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at the Endeavour Group overseeing environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues as well as relations across a range of sectors from wine production, retail and hospitality.
Working chiefly in the drinks and hospitality industries, his sustainability and ESG work has centred on social aspects and community practices. He’s performed various volunteer roles at NGOs in the alcohol and harm space, including DrinkWise Australia, as well as being involved in key circular economy projects and the establishment of container deposit schemes in a number of states.
Dan joined the BGF Board in 2023.
Ramon del Carmen
Ramon is the CFO of Sydney North Health Network and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Ramon has a Bachelor of Economics degree from Sydney University and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Ramon joined the BGF Board in 2017 and is currently Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
Dr. JR Baker
JR is an experienced executive with 20 years’ experience strategically leading organisations to achieve cutting-edge service delivery. He has consistently introduced industry-leading service improvements that always keep the client at the centre of change. He has led primary and community care services to become an Australian leader in social prescribing, complex care coordination and linking work services. JR is driven by his ideas on providing optimal health services through innovation in the not-for-profit and health space.
JR joined the BGF Board in 2023.
Fraser Drummond
Fraser Drummond is a highly experienced HIV and sexual health physician who has been caring for people with HIV since 1996. Originally from Scotland, he moved to Sydney in 1997 and worked at The Albion Centre during the introduction of triple therapy. He later joined the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research (now The Kirby Institute), where he led pivotal studies—including the SMART Trial—that helped shape global HIV treatment guidelines.
Fraser has also worked extensively in sexual health medicine and served as Country Medical Director at ViiV Healthcare, a company solely focused on HIV treatment and prevention. Now working in telehealth, he continues to support a broader group of people with unmet needs.
Passionate about reducing stigma and fostering safe, inclusive care, Fraser joined the BGF Board in late 2024.
Brian Johnson
Brian has built a successful career in global banking and funds management leading diverse portfolios and managing strategic projects across mergers, acquisitions, divestments and enterprise-wide transformations. He has extensive experience in shaping strategies to optimise returns while aligning with organisational values and sustainability goals.
Passionate about driving positive social impact, Brian utilises his expertise in financial governance and strategic investments to strengthen BGF’s capacity to support its clients.
Brian joined the BGF Investment Committee as an Independent Member in 2023, was appointed to the Board as a Director in 2024 and became Chair of the Investment Committee in 2025.
David Kay
David has more than 20 years’ experience as a consultant, working across the human services and disability sectors in Australia and New Zealand.
David advises government agencies and large not-for-profit organisations on human services and disability sector reform, program review and evaluations, strategic and operational planning and improvement.
David joined the BGF Board in 2022.
John Walton
John has worked for over 20 years in primary healthcare, clinical research and pharmaceuticals. This included national roles supporting HIV treatments and patient programs. Prior to this he owned a national wholesale and retail business that distributed products from the US and EU.
John has an MBA and a Master of Business (Marketing) from the University of Technology Sydney.
He is passionate about social justice, diversity, access to healthcare and supporting marginalised populations.
John joined the BGF Board in 2019.
