Nick Lawson

Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) President Carla Treloar has announced that Nick Lawson has stepped down as CEO and Company Secretary, after an impressive tenure of nearly nine years in the role.

Nick joined BGF following a celebrated international NGO career with Médecins Sans Frontières and The Fred Hollows Foundation, joining with a clear passion for helping communities thrive.

“Nick has had a profound impact on the mission Bobby Goldsmith Foundation proudly serves; standing by and supporting people living with HIV, which we have done for more than 40 years,” said Professor Treloar.

Nick led BGF through the reimagining of service offerings to meet growing needs in NDIS and aged care, along with a permanent presence in Western Sydney to serve emerging needs of those living with HIV and growing services in Northern NSW and in South Australia. Throughout these strategic projects, Nick maintained strong stakeholder relationships across the sector and with important government and regulatory bodies. Nick leaves behind a strong organisation with a high calibre team to continue BGF’s unique role in the community.

Nick was also CEO and Company Secretary during the 40th anniversary celebrations in 2024, which included a range of meaningful occasions and saw BGF awarded the HIV Hero Award at the 2024 ACON Honour Awards.

“I’m very proud of the service and support that BGF offers to some of the most marginalised members of Australian society. Our solidarity with all people living with HIV has been absolutely steadfast for more than 40 years, and I am honoured to have stood alongside, and worked with, our incredibly courageous family of clients as they have navigated the most extraordinary challenges.

I am equally as proud to have worked with an amazing team, and all those who have given their time at BGF. The selflessness, proactivity, extra mile gone, integrity and love through which they make our clients’ lives that much better is truly humbling to observe.

BGF is now well geared to take its next very important steps, and it has the most amazing team to ensure our clients’ dignity will be, as always, at the heart of everything we do,” said Nick.

Professor Treloar said, “on behalf of the Board, I thank Nick for his long years of service and wish him all the very best for the next chapter.”

Nick finished his tenure at BGF on Friday 12 December 2025.

Mike Searle, Director Client Services will be Acting CEO until further notice.
